What PactLock is
PactLock is a productivity and accountability tool. It helps you create binding commitments to block distracting apps and websites for a period you choose. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, counseling, crisis support, referrals, or helplines.
Your commitments are binding
When you sign a commitment, it becomes active and cannot be weakened, shortened, or deleted until it naturally expires. This is a core feature of PactLock, not a bug. By signing, you acknowledge and accept this irreversibility.
Penalties
If your commitment includes a penalty and you breach it, the full penalty amount will be charged to your saved payment method. At least 25% goes to PactLock for platform operations. The remaining 75% goes to the consequence you selected (recovery fund, charity, or custom destination). Penalty charges are final and non-refundable.
Emergency unlocks
Each commitment includes one free emergency unlock with a 15-minute cooling period. Additional emergency unlocks may trigger the penalty. Emergency unlocks are designed for genuine emergencies, not convenience.
Witnesses
Witnesses are invited by you and can see your commitment status. In Approval Mode, witnesses can approve or deny emergency unlock requests. Witnesses are not liable for your commitments or penalties.
Community circles
Community circles are peer support groups. They are not moderated by professionals. Content shared in circles is visible to circle members. You are responsible for your own check-ins and reactions. Reported content may be hidden pending review. PactLock is not responsible for interactions between circle members.
Subscriptions
Pro and Hardcore plans are billed monthly or annually. You can cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation does not affect active commitments — they remain binding until they expire. Refunds for partial subscription periods are not provided.
Limitation of liability
PactLock is provided as-is. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to penalty charges, lost productivity, or emotional distress. You use PactLock at your own risk.
